Description

BUMPER + AUTO OF OMAHA
omaha, nebraska

A design overlaying a turn-of-the-century brick building with a single modern structure serving as a warehouse and storage now helps brighten the neighborhood on this stretch of South 13th Street.  Updating and transforming the bow trusses façade and creating smart awnings stealing from the design of a bumper also animate shadows as the sun rises and sets.  An existing door is now a dramatic louver design, with horizontal slats angled to admit light and air, but keep out rain, direct sunshine, and noise.  Translucent panels along the top of the left building glow at night from the light of the work continuing inside.  Daylight from the south illuminates the warehouse, and precast panels of recycled concrete compose the outside walls.
