A coalescence of fashion and sustainable design and urbanism excite this boutique in Countryside Villages. Expanding the store's floor space to an extra 800 feet set in motion a transformation for She.la into what now is a stunning shopping experience. Clothing from Malaysia and India delight the eyes of boutique shoppers; and, using natural and recycled materials, the design draws inspiration from the exotic merchandise on display. Multi-level, floating translucent ceiling panels move up and down to bring varying levels of light to different parts of the store, with a carpet made of recycled material with no artificial dyes. While most of the design uses monochromatic shades of white, there is an occasional pop of tangerine; exploiting natural materials invite a curious touch, a run of a hand along a concrete countertop. Even a polished rock is displayed as sculpture. Glass walls separate dressing rooms, with sponge-like comfort of charcoal cork underfoot in each to create a sanctuary and haven, an area beyond which to try on new fashions. One oversized dressing room offers a flat screen TV to entertain children with video games and DVDs or, for the shopper, the latest in runway shows and fashion trends. The increased area permits a number of fashion workshops, from how to pack for a trip to essentials of putting together an outfit, as well as more room for dramatic trunk shows, all enveloped by a composition that understands the impact of shoppers and the surroundings interacting with it.
